ITINERARY

The King Mine Historical Center | KB3 offers an immersive experience in the heart of restored mine buildings, highlighting the work of the miners. The tour includes the immersive experience Lights Below Ground. A visit to the forge, hoists building, underground exhibition gallery, and spectacular observatory offering a 360-degree panoramic view of Thetford Mines. Each tour begins at a set time with the immersive experience. We recommend purchasing tickets online to guarantee your spot! The entire tour lasts approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Immersive experience

Starting July 17, 2025, experience a unique encounter with Thetford's mining history and the people who shaped it. First, experience an immersive, sensory show where the past blends with emotion to create a moment of pure wonder. Then, explore discovery stations revealing the hidden aspects of the miners' lives and work. An hour between shadow and light!

A must-see this summer. A creation by the MATIÈRS creative studio, presented by Desjardins and Minéro at the King Mine Historical Center | KB3.

Buildings and underground exhibition

Explore the headframe, blacksmith shop, and winch building to understand how a former mine in the region worked. These 1939 buildings have all been restored to offer an authentic experience. Explore the underground "Step Back in Time" exhibition for an immersion into the underground mining world from 1980 to 1910.

Thetford City Observatory

Take the elevator or stairs to the Thetford City Observatory, located at the very top of the headframe. At a height of 42 meters, enjoy a sensational view of the city and the mining landscape. Would you dare to venture out onto our screened balcony?

Mini-Heroes Space AND Urban Park

Discover the Espace des mini-héros, a family park offering a free, fun and educational experience. This space offers a variety of fun activities for children, such as a mini backhoe loader, a floating sieve, barrels, and an adventure course with tires and wooden blocks. Two restored locomotives and a truck cab stimulate children's imaginations. Also enjoy a shade sail to protect you from the sun and a self-service toy box. Dive into Thetford Mines' mining history with your family!
