An immersive exploration into the daily lives of miners
Minéro – Thetford Museum | KB3 is proud to present its brand new immersive experience Lights Below Ground. which is now featured at the King Mine Historical Centre | KB3. This bold initiative promises to transform the way the public discovers the mining history of the Thetford Mines region.
Located in the heart of the headframe, an iconic and spectacular building of Thetford's industrial heritage, Lights Below Ground is the result of a year of intensive preparation. This innovative experience is designed to offer a total immersion in the world of miners and the legacy of the King Mine, closed since 1986.
Designed by the MATIÈRS creative studio, Lights Below Ground. offers a unique encounter with Thetford's mining history and the people who shaped it. The audience will first witness an immersive and sensory show where the past blends with emotion to create a moment of pure wonder. They will then explore discovery stations revealing the hidden aspects of the miners' lives and work. An hour between shadow and light that promises to captivate the senses and the imagination.
This new immersive experience fits perfectly with the visit to the King Mine Historical Centre | KB3, enhancing its offering and providing an enriched perspective on the region's mining history.
Lights Below Ground. is a presentation by Desjardins, which also acts as a financial partner. This major project is made possible thanks to the financial support of the Government of Canada and the Government of Quebec.
